2020has been a crazy year! With the school situation being uncertain, I wanted to create a space in our home for my kids to do their school work. We had a room in our basement that was kind of wonky! It never really served a good purpose and I honestly didn’t know what I wanted to do with it for years! It was almost as if a lightbulb went off when I realized my kids would be participating in remote learning from home...I needed to create a homeschool room! So that’s what we did! We have the greatest neighbor and friend, who helped us create this space. We call him Handy Dan! He’s a retired Handy Man that has the biggest heart and has helped us with a lot of projects! We have 6 children, and needed more storage, so we built these built in cabinets.

I also needed a place for the kids to sit and do their schoolwork, but didn’t want to take up too much space in the room, so we decided to build floating desks.

I’ve always wanted a shiplap wall and this seemed like the perfect space to add one! We used 1/4” sheets of plywood cut into 6” strips to create this vertical shiplap wall, and I love how it turned out, and especially loved the price tag!

I couldn’t be happier with how this space turned out! That wonky room is now one of my favorites and has been a great place for my kids to learn from home!
