]]>Easy Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe:
Ingredients:
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a mixing bowl, combine the shortening, brown sugar, and white sugar. Mix until well combined and creamy.
Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and baking soda. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
Fold in the chocolate chips, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the dough.
Drop rounded tablespoonfuls of cookie dough onto an ungreased baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Bake in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown. The center may appear slightly undercooked but will firm up as the cookies cool.
Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Packaging and Gift Ideas: Once your chocolate chip cookies have cooled, it's time to package them up beautifully for your teacher. Consider using Rubbermaid Twist and Seal containers to keep the cookies fresh and secure. Arrange the cookies neatly inside the container, and don't forget to attach the free printable inspired by "If You Give a Teacher a Cookie." I cut a piece of tissue paper into quarters and placed one at the base of the containers to make it look a little more decorative.
Include a heartfelt note expressing your gratitude and admiration for your teacher's hard work and dedication. Personal touches like ribbons or decorative tags can add an extra special touch to your gift.
Remember to download our free printable, inspired by "If You Give a Teacher a Cookie," to accompany your gift. It's a simple yet meaningful way to let your teacher know just how much they mean to you. Don't forget to have your little one sign their name!
Happy baking and gifting!

]]>Need a fun treat idea that is sure to be a hit? Try making WAFFLE CAKES!
First of all, they're darn cute and super easy! Who doesn't love waffles? Jazz them up and have a fun breakfast for the kids or brunch with your girlfriends! They'd also be so fun at a baby shower or really whenever! There are also endless options of how to create waffle cakes. Today I made a few varieties I'll share with you! I've linked the waffle iron I used here. It does a great job!
For my first waffle cake, I decided to go with the classic waffle with whipped cream, and berries.
My second option was chocolate waffles (I just added about 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder to the waffle batter), whipped cream, and mini chocolate chips.
My third option is for those sweet tooths!
I used the Harvest Mix Cadbury Eggs (if you know me at all, you know I'm obsessed with these), mini chocolate chips, candy corn and whipped cream.
Talk about SWEET! So Yummy and perfect for Halloween! The kids especially loved this one.
Creating a waffle cake is really easy. I like to keep things pretty simple, and just add whipped cream and toppings between each layer of whatever flavor waffle you desire. You can get creative with jams, fancy syrups, various berries and candies! I have even seen a few ice cream waffle cakes, where each layer is filled with ice cream!
Waffle Cakes need to be served immediately once you have added the whipped cream and toppings! I also found it helpful to let the waffles cool slightly before adding the whipped cream to help prevent it from melting. If you wanted to plan ahead, you could make a bunch of waffles and freeze them until you are ready to serve. If the waffles you create are small enough to fit in your toaster, I have found that method to work really well. It's like a DIY version of Eggo waffles!
As I mentioned previously, I like to keep things simple because life is busy and anytime, I can simplify things, I try to! I get all my groceries delivered through Walmart. Take a second and hear me out on how AMAZING this actually is!
Being a Walmart+ member has saved me so much time. I order my groceries through the Walmart app and they are DELIVERED TO MY FRONT DOOR. I still get to benefit from the same everyday low prices, but someone else gets to take care of the grocery shopping for me! I cannot stress enough how in love I am with this benefit! Want to try it out? It will change your life, no really it just might! Click here!
New customers can use promo code TRIPLE10 to save $10 off your first three pickup or delivery orders. $50 min. Restrictions & fees apply.
I stay stocked for the kid's school lunches, the endless snack requests like those granola bars, and fish crackers, as well as being better prepared for meals during the week. I take a few minutes to plan my meals ahead, then I shop for the ingredients I need on the app knowing it will be delivered right to my front door. Try the latest items now and save time using pickup or delivery.
Below I've linked some of my favorite kitchen items from Walmart. Walmart+ members also get to enjoy items shipped by Walmart free with no order minimum! (Excludes freight, oversized and Marketplace items).

I love the designer look of these kitchen appliances. They look high end but are at a price that won't break the bank!
Create a beautifully designed Fall table to host your friends and family and maybe even serve some fancy waffle cakes.
Complete your pretty table with a dining set. These dishes are so pretty and priced so well!
I have a bunch of these dishes and could not recommend them more! They are great quality and add a lot of flare to any table!
Bake and serve in style with these items from Walmart. (Click image to shop)
Elevate your kitchen with pretty jars, washable rugs, and beautiful appliances!
Thanks so much for reading! Happy baking friends!

]]>Prep the kids lunches ahead of time and keep them in the fridge for an easy grab and go option. One idea could be having a variety of lunch options organized in baggies stored in a clear container so the kids could pick things out for themself, or you can prep individual lunches in containers that are packed and ready to grab and go!
I like to use these containers because they have a clear lid that clicks on really nice and tight, and I can see what's inside. They also stack really nicely which helps to conserve space in the fridge.
I also like using these silicone baking cups to separate food items.
They are reusable and washable. They're also great if you want to add some dips like ranch, nutella, hummus, peanut butter etc.
If you're concerned about things becoming soggy, I would suggest wrapping them in plastic wrap.
Here are a few easy lunch ideas:
The famous PB&J (If your kids don't like the crust, you can use this handy thing I found on Amazon.
It works great to create your own Uncrustables! It also awesome to cut cheese and lunch meat into circles to create your own Luncahbles. Bagel Sandwiches, Bagels and cream cheese, Mini sandwiches using Hawaiin Rolls, rolled Up Turkey and Ham, Wraps, Cobb Salad, Yogurt and granola are also some more ideas.
Snacks and Sides Ideas:
Fruit Cabobs, Rice Cakes, dried fruit like apple and banana chips & raisins or apricots, fresh fruit, veggies like baby carrots, celery sticks and peanut butter, sliced cucumber or sugar snap peas, pretzel sticks, popcorn, crackers like Cheez It's or Goldfish, GoGurt, hardboiled egg, and apple sauce cups or pouches.
This set comes with some skewers that are great to keep the lunch meat rolled up and are also great for fruit cabobs. It also comes with a variety of other fun options, like eyeballs and cute animals you can add to your kid's food in their lunch to make it a little more fun and exciting).
It can feel like a lot to keep on top of all the meals especially meals on the go! If you can designate a day of the week for prep, it will save you lots of time on those crazy mornings. Another way I make life a little easier on myself is ordering my groceries online. We do most of our grocery shopping through Costco and Walmart. I signed up to be a Walmart+ member over a year ago and have LOVED the benefit of having my groceries delivered to my front door. I can make a list and menu then pop onto the app and place my order without having to leave the house! It's magnificent! I'll link the details here, if you'd like to check it out!
I've gathered up some other school lunch options from Amazon here! So, if you're needing a lunch box, ice packs to keep things cool, or containers to pack the food in, I've got you covered!
If you're still in the back-to-school clothes shopping mode I've rounded up a bunch of cute and affordable options for elementary boys and girls below! Tap the picture to go to the links!

I will admit I don't really have a passion for cooking. I don't really love baking either, but I would prefer it over cooking for sure. With that being said I truly appreciate any recipe that is quick and easy and most importantly delicious. So, whether you love to cook and bake or are more like me and do it as a means to survive and keep your family alive, I have a recipe you are sure to LOVE! I know baking doesn't really fall into the category of needing it to survive like cooking a meal does, but it feels nice to make something the kids probably won't complain about, if ya know what I mean. I also have a really big, sweet tooth, so I do get a little more pumped about desserts!
This recipe is great because it only requires 5 ingredients, and there's a good chance you might already have them in your pantry and fridge. If not, I would encourage you to add them to your grocery list because this one's a winner.
I also really love this recipe because its's FAST! If you find out last minute that you will be having company this recipe will be your best friend.
5 Ingredient Dump Cake
Ingredients:
1 box of chocolate cake mix (any kind of chocolate will do)
1 box (3.9 oz.) instant chocolate pudding (just the dry pudding mix)
1 stick (1/2 cup) of melted butter
2 1/2 cups milk (whole milk is best)
1 bag (2 cups) of chocolate chips
Instructions:
Grease a 13x9" pan
Add the box of dry cake mix, then top with the box of dry pudding.
Combine the butter and milk and pour over the cake and pudding mixes.
Slightly whisk it all together, then top with chocolate chips.
Bake in the oven at 350° for 35-40 minutes.
Serve immediately with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. I also added some Hershey's syrup over the top and it was so good!
So next time you're in a pinch to make a last-minute desert or are just craving some chocolatey goodness, remember this winner!

Each holiday season we like to make treats to deliver to friends and neighbors. I love to keep it simple, because we all know this time of year can feel kind of hectic at times!
One of my favorite treats to make are Muddy Buddies! They are a family favorite and so simple!
To save me some extra time I ordered my groceries through the Walmart app using my Walmart+ membership. We love being Walmart+ members because of the amazing benefits like unlimited free delivery ($35 order minimum. Restrictions apply.) We also get free shipping from Walmart.com without an order minimum (excludes most Marketplace items, location & freight surcharges) and enjoy the same everyday low prices! Click here to check out the 15 day free trial! It has been such a blessing for our busy family of 8!
When I make Muddy Buddies I just follow the back of the Chex cereal box. We like to add in Christmas m&m's, marshmallows, and other candies like chopped Ande's mints, and peppermints etc. You can really add whatever sounds good to you or keep it simple!
The recipe suggests using a large ziploc bag to mix everything in, but I like to use a large mixing bowl because we usually double or triple the recipe!
Here is a great large mixing bowl.
Chex Mix Muddy Buddies:
Ingredients:
9 cups Rice Chex Cereal
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
Into large bowl, measure cereal, set aside.
In 1 quart microwavable bowl, microwave chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter uncovered on High for 1 minute; stir. Microwave about 30 seconds longer or until mixture can be stirred smooth. Stir in vanilla. Pour mixture over cereal, stirring until evenly coated. Pour into 2-gallon resealable plastic bag. Add powdered sugar. Seal bag; shake until well coated.
We then like to add in the m&m's and other candies to make it look more festive for the Holidays, and extra candy always sounds like a good idea to me!
This year we delivered the treats in Rubbermaid containers, but these gift bags are a great option too!
I love using my Thyme and Table dishes! They are high quality, adorable and a great price! I have linked a bunch of my favorites below, including the bowl from above! (You can also click the image to shop).

I am continuously blown away by the products at Walmart. They continue to get better and better and it's hard to beat their amazing prices!
This time of year is so cold here in North Idaho. You can see out the window that it is currently snowing and 20 degrees outside! BRRR! All I want to do is get cozy and stay warm. I have compiled a bunch of great loungewear and outerwear from Walmart I want to share with you! Plus sharing some of my holiday decor favs with you again! Creating Charcuterie boards are quick and easy! I created a meat and cheese board as well as a holiday drink using the groceries I had delivered for free ($35 order min. Restrictions apply.) using Walmart+ membership. I absolutely love having my groceries delivered to my doorstep! This time of year it is especially beneficial to me because we are extra busy with holiday festivities and family. I love being able to order my groceries from the comfort of my home and look forward to their delivery! There is a $35 minimum and some restrictions do apply. We enjoy the annual plan because we utilize the benefits so often, but there are monthly plan options as well.
As a Walmart+ member, you can also enjoy free shipping from Walmart.com with no order minimums (Excludes most Marketplace items, location, & freight surcharges) and discounts on fuel at Walmart and Murphy gas stations. Click here if you would like to learn more!
I love hosting friends and family and charcuterie boards are such an easy and beautiful way to display snacks.
For this board I used:
Pickles, dries apricots, blueberries, grapes, cheddar cheese, various crackers, summer sausage, salami and a cheese and almond spread.
I created salami roses by slightly overlapping the edges of 3 pieces of folded salami, then I rolled them up together and secured with a toothpick!
These snacks went perfectly with this holiday drink!
Holiday Punch:
You will need:
Cranberry Juice
Apple Juice
Pineapple Juice
Orange Juice
Ginger Ale
Cinnamon Sticks
Cranberries
Orange Slices
I literally just eyeballed this drink, it is so simple! I started by adding the cranberry juice, then the pineapple, followed by the apple and orange juice to a pitcher with a little ice at the bottom. These juices blend so well together! I poured in even amounts of each. I topped it off with Ginger Ale, and threw in some cranberries, orange slices and cinnamon sticks to make it look festive and add a little more flavor! It was so easy and delicious. It paired perfectly with my meat and cheese board!
I hope you enjoy this holiday season! Click here to try Walmart+ free for 15 days!

I am loving the Charcuterie Board trend! First of all it always looks so pretty and second it is so easy to create!
This time of year we spend a lot of time with family. We get the opportunity to host some family for the holidays so I thought it would be fun to create a Breakfast Charcuterie board while we have guests.
I found this chop block at Walmart. It was a great price and I loved the little compartments it had! (You can also click the pictures to visit the links).
Here is another cutting board and knife set option!
I've linked some great small serving bowls here. I always like having cute dish towels on hand and loved this waffle knit set!
I wanted to keep things easy, so I decided to purchase premade waffles and pancakes. Did you know they have mini pancakes and waffles? I found these at Walmart and thought they were so cute!
The rest is really simple and self explanatory! I added chopped up strawberries, bananas, raspberries, and blueberries to the board. I cooked up some bacon and added that to the board as well. I put peanut butter, mini chocolate chips and whipped cream in small containers as other toppings for the waffles and pancakes. You could also add syrup and jam!
Here are some cute jam jars and syrup dispenser!
That's it! Creating Charcuterie boards are simple and fun! There are endless possibilities! I have linked up some of my favorite finds for the kitchen and serving from Walmart below. (Click the picture to shop).

I love this time of year. It feels so cozy and magical. I have found the greatest pieces from Walmart that will make your home feel so festive! The prices are so good too!
I love using bottle brush trees in my home during the holidays. These are a great deal and I love that they come in various sizes too! These come in various colors as well. (Click the picture for the link.)
This year I think I'm going to keep a neutral base and bring in pops of burgundy. One way I like incorporating color is through ribbons. I love using thick wire ribbon to stuff in my Christmas tree as well as on gifts! Last year I used ribbon to tie bows around the top of the stockings.
I got a few rolls of this burgundy ribbon and think it will make an excellent addition to my holiday decor.
Check out how cute these gold reindeer are too! They're under $13! (Click the picture for the link).
I love using wood accents in my home all year long. I love these pretty wooden trees and beaded garland. (Click the pictures for the link).
I thought this wreath and garland were really pretty and such great prices! These would be a great way to bring in a little color as well. (Click the pictures for a link.)
These shatterproof neutral ornaments from Walmart are so pretty and can easily flow with any color scheme. I love using shatterproof ornaments with little ones or pets around. (Click the picture for the link).

Here are some more really fun pieces from Walmart!
]]>I adore this time of year it's just so cozy and fun to decorate for. I wanted to create a Fall table with rich colors and moody vibes! Creating a good tablescape is all about layers and levels. Think about it like dressing yourself for instance. Putting on a pair of pants and a sweater is cute but think about how your look can be elevated when you add that necklace, bracelet and a fun pair of earrings. Adding a hat and belt continues to enhance your look right? Same thing goes with our homes, and designing a pretty table is no different. It is true that less can be more sometimes, so it's important to make sure the pieces all compliment each other without competing with each other.
First, let's all agree that we're not going to worry about how terribly wrinkly the table cloth is okay? Ok good. I was in a bit of a hurry when pulling this together and didn't take the time to steam it. I do have any amazing steamer that works great if you're looking for one, I will link it here!
To start, I used a basic white (very wrinkly) table cloth. To add some interest and pattern I'm using 2 leopard scarves down the center. You could also use a small throw blanket or any scarf you like! Here is a cute leopard scarf option I found online at Walmart. I wanted my table to feel cozy and elegantly casual so I draped the scarves loosely.
Next, let's add some candlesticks for height variation and because candles always help set the tone.
Now let's bring in the cute little pumpkins. I love using white pumpkins. I found these ones at Walmart for under $4 each.
Plants are a great way to make things feel fresh and add a variety of texture as well as some pops of color. I found these cute little mini mums and miniature kale plants at Walmart as well.
For the table settings, I had these wooden plates on hand, but here is another fun option for wooden plates. I found these square black bowls at Walmart and absolutely love them. They feel high quality and look so chic and modern at a great price point. I also have the matching plates and the mugs.
Layering your table settings is another great way to add interest! I like adding a napkin to the top of each place setting.
We have an apple tree in our backyard so I decided to add a few apples to the mix. Apples totally scream Fall décor to me and I like how they give some more variety to the table. It would be cute to even add a little apple to each of the place settings over the napkin, if you opted out of using a napkin ring. Here is a pretty set of wooden napkin rings.
Using battery operated fairy lights always adds to the magic of a good table! I've linked the copper set I have here. The gold silverware is from Walmart and I adore it! I love using it for special occasions. It's so pretty and adds a dash of elegance.
When I think of Fall, I picture yummy pies. Wouldn't it be fun to have a pie party? You could have a variety of pies to serve or invite your guests to bring their favorite to share. I found these darling little mini pies at Walmart for 50 cents a piece! I love using this tiered serving tray to display them and serve them on.
I filled up a few glass swing bottles with apple juice and cider. These bottles are great to have on hand for dinner parties!
That's it! We're all set to have a fun Fall get together. Thanks for reading! I hope you are enjoying this Fall season! Click the picture below to shop this look!
]]>The Crockpot is one of the greatest inventions to save us on those busy days! This is a really easy recipe where pretty much everything besides the egg noodles are thrown in and the crockpot does the work!
I typically cook it on high for 4 hours, then remove the chicken and chop it up.
Once the chicken is chopped, add it back into the crockpot as well as the egg noodles. Then cook for about 10-15 more minutes or until the noodles are soft.
Full recipe is below. Enjoy!
Who's ready for all the Fall scents and smells? I am! Pumpkin is one of my favorites!

I always love working with Walmart because they have the cutest things and such great prices!
First of all let me admit that I am totally guilty of hiding my mess and lack of organization behind closed doors! Can ya relate? I'm hoping to break that cycle and get these spaces whipped into shape one at a time!
Today I focused on our linen closet that has been neglected for far too long! It's a tad embarrassing to even show the chaos that is this closet, but here it is in all its glory! Yikes! Right?
We really don't need all of that stuff! It has been building up for years! There were so many sheet sets that we weren't utilizing, and towels from long long ago! Lots of those towels should have been ditched a long time ago! It is time for a fresh start!
If you are in the market for some new sheets, I found some really great options I'll link below. Did you know Gap has a new line of products at Walmart? So exciting! (Click on the image to be taken to the website).
Once I removed everything from the closet, I decided to give it a fresh coat of paint. This is one of the last spaces in our home that hasn't been repainted since we moved in about 7 years ago! This poor closet has been so neglected! Not for much longer though!
I had some leftover white paint that I used to give it a fresh new look! It clearly still needs another coat or two in this picture, but it's already looking better!
While the paint was drying I went through all the stuff that I took out of the closet. It was time to decide if it was worth putting back, or if it was time to trash it or donate it. I only wanted to bring in what was currently serving our family. We did not need all that stuff!
Once I had concluded what was staying, I needed a system to organize it. I went to Walmart to find some storage containers and fresh new towels because Walmart's Home department has some amazing things!
I grabbed various storage containers to store towels, washcloths, toilet paper, sheets, linen sprays, and even some of my aprons and pretty kitchen towels.
I even bought these new towels because most of our old ones were looking a little too dingy to go back into the closet.
Here are a few other towel set options I really liked! (Click on the image to be taken to the website).
Someone recently taught me a great way to organize sheets. Once you've "folded" your sheets (I add the quotes around the word folded because I'm not sure my methods qualify as folding), but anyways once they're folded, you store them together in the pillow case! How had I not known about this amazing method? So there ya go, that will save you lots of space and keep them all organized together.
I have linked a bunch of the items I used in this post here plus some other really cute storage solutions from Walmart!
If you like seeing the magic of things transform right before your eyes, you can watch this linen closet makeover come to life here in video form! Happy Organizing!

I have saved so much time grocery shopping using the Walmart app. It takes me an average of 10 minutes to order, and my groceries are delivered fresh right to my door! My 15 year old daughter wanted to give her bedroom a fun makeover! One of the easiest ways to get a fresh new look is by changing out the bedding. It's easy to do and can completely transform a space!
We love this Buffalo Plaid quilt and pillow shams from Walmart. They're super cute, and the quilt is reversible! You can see the other side folded down on her bed. I love it! The bold black and white print is so good! Lexi has such a fun personality, I wanted her bedroom to be a reflection of herself! So bold patterns, and pops of color help bring in those fun vibes!
I also love this dot sheet set from Walmart! It has a super fun black and white pattern as well!
Every girl needs a mirror and space to get ready! Check out this cute easel mirror! It goes perfectly in her room! We added these string lights because they are just fun!
We added a collage wall of pictures to add some more color and interest. An easy way to create a great aesthetic of photos is to purchase them all together in a bundle. Lexi's exact photos aren't linked, but I've linked a few options here that I found through Walmart!
I always like to have extra storage for my kids. These storage cubes are a great deal and so cute! They fit perfectly in her window, which is typically a place things seem to pile up! Thankfully I won't have to see the junk accumulating anymore now that she has a functional space to put things! Woohoo!
There are still a few more things we plan to do in Lexi's bedroom, but thanks to the amazing Walmart Home products we are off to a great start!

When setting a table for a gathering it helps to have various, textures, patterns, and levels to make it appealing to the eye!
You can add different heights by using cake stands, baskets, pitchers with flowers or greenery, different sized lanterns, tiered serving stands, small wooden crates etc. to give the table various levels.
I like working with neutrals and then adding pops of color in through food, flowers, plants, or even dishware. I worked with a base of black and white using these buffalo check placemats, and table runner. I added pops of color by adding some jade bowls, jade salt and pepper shakers and gold silverware. The cherries and lemons are also a nice addition to add little color to the table.
When I saw these gold utensils at Walmart I think my heart skipped a beat and I knew it would perfectly compliment this table setting!
The cloth napkins were such a great deal! I added wooden napkin rings to tie in the wood and rattan pieces on the table.
I love the glass cups! They have a classic look, are a great size and under $1! (I believe they're only sold in store). The glass drink dispenser is adorable too and under $13! You can't see it in the picture but it has a wooden handle which I think was the perfect touch!
The striped mugs, bowls and spotted plates with the gold edging steal the show in my opinion! I just love the pattern on them, and they look so classy! I about cleared out the shelves with those pieces because once again the prices were so good being under $5!
Get togethers with friends and family are always more fun when there's good food! I wanted my Summer gathering to be sweet and fresh! Walmart has a great selection of yummy treats! I added mini berry pies (they were only 50 cents each), cookies, lemon glazed pound cake, blueberry muffins, cherries, blueberries, and lemon water.
I had so much fun creating a fun Summer table with Walmart! I hope you're having a wonderful Summer and enjoying time with those you love!

]]>Okay first you need to find a lamp. I love hunting thrift stores, but maybe you have one lying around the house that needs a little makeover. I found my lamp at Goodwill years ago.
First thing we're going to do is give it a coat of paint to help the joint compound (we will be adding later) stick better. Maybe the joint compound would stick just fine without it, but the paint will also helps to cover any areas the joint compound might not be applied as thick. I plan to keep my lamp white, so I want the base to be white as well.
I had some of this spray primer leftover from another project, so this is what I used. I think it helps if your paint has a primer in it.
I spray painted a quick coat over the lamp. I didn't worry about how even my coverage was, but if I were to do it over again I would have done a better job of trying to make sure it was nicely covered for the reason I stated above. It helps for those areas where the joint compound is applied more thinly and shows through a bit. So just make sure to give it a nice even coat. The picture below looks like it's covered pretty well, but there were some areas in the back where the blue was still peeking though.
After the paint dries, the fun part begins! You get to dig your hands around in some joint compound! Woohoo! I got my joint compound from Home Depot, but you can find it at any Hardware Store. The key is to fine pre mixed joint compound. My bucket cost less than $5.
You really can't go wrong with this next part. Just dive in and start smearing the joint compound on until the lamp has good coverage. I didn't have any gloves, so I dove in bare handed. If you have disposable gloves, I'd wear those unless you love cool sliminess squishing between your fingers. It felt kind of gross, but was actually pretty fun! (This washes off well. I tried to wipe as much off my hands onto a paper towel before rinsing it down the drain.)
Once the joint compound is on nice and thick, you can smear it around until you get the look you're going for. Don't overthink this part too much! I smeared mine around in rough horizontal strokes. (See picture below). Once you're satisfied with how it looks, it's time to let it be so it can dry. I gave mine about 24 hours of dry time.
After it is good and dry, you will sand it slightly to smooth it out. I used a sanding block/sponge because it is pretty gentle You can also use a low grit sand paper. This part gets pretty dusty. It is really cold here in North Idaho right now, so I did this inside, but I'd recommend doing this outdoors if possible.
Wipe off any excess dust after sanding. Next I chose to paint over the joint compound with some craft paint I had on hand from Michael's. I think a bottle of this paint was around $1. I used a sponge brush.
Isn't it looking neat? This makes me excited! While I waited for the paint to dry I ran to Ross to look for a lamp shade. I have seen lamp shades there before, so I thought it was a good place to check! I found the perfect oversized white drum lampshade that would compliment my lamp base so well. Walmart and Target would also be great places to check for lamp shades sold separately.
It's complete! Check it out my FAUX stone lamp!
I just love how it turned out! I was able to save a TON of money by making this myself, and it was so easy! Now I'm ready to create a few more DIY Faux Lamps!

The fireplace is a symbolic and meaningful space in our home, especially during the holiday season for our family. It's where we gather to watch Christmas movies and sip hot chocolate on the chilly winter nights. It’s where we open gifts and play games. It’s the one place in the home that represents our kids’ excitement knowing that Santa is coming soon! There are lots of different and creative ways to layer when it comes to the mantel- start with tall candlesticks or trees followed by bottle brush trees of all shapes and sizes. Then, drape your garland and hang your stockings! Since Jesus is the reason for the season, I love putting our wooden “Oh come let us adore Him” sign up each year, making it the center of attention!
This is my mantle from last year. I loved decorating in shades of pink.
My goal for our front porch is always cozy and festive! I love adding a "home sweet home" kind of feel to an exterior space. I want our home to be welcoming, especially during the holidays. For example, adding items that are typically indoor pieces to your outdoor scene will make the space more unique and inviting during the Christmas season!
Don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and go against the Christmas decor "norm"! Get creative and hang wreaths in places you might not expect to see them. Whether it's above the microwave, on an outdoor fire place, a blank space on a wall, above your bed or on the back of a dining room chair, there are so many festive ways to decorate with wreaths! I absolutely love adding pops of green anywhere I can.
As a mom of 6, I want my kids to grow up in bedrooms that they will remember forever. I want them to always know that they have a safe place to call home and come back to when they're old enough to be on their own. I think the kids' rooms are some of my very favorite rooms in the house to decorate for Christmas. The more lights and trees, the merrier!
How fun is this modern wrapping paper? The different colors and patterns really lighten the mood! You’re probably wondering how you’re going to get all that gift wrapping done so early, but don’t fret! Grab a few empty boxes and wrap them up with pretty wrapping paper and a bow. Add depth by stacking them under the tree and by the fire. You’ll even have your guests tricked into thinking you’re way ahead of the game this year, ha! It makes for pretty decor.
This Stovetop Potpourri will make your home smell so good!
What are the holidays without a festive and simple DIY project to spruce things up?
These are the perfect gifts this time of year! Someone made one for me last year and I loved it. You pour all this beautiful goodness into a pot on your stove and simmer on low. It makes your home smells divine! You can make this for yourself just by adding everything directly to the pot on your stove, or you can create it in a jar and give it to your friends for Christmas.
You’ll need:
•Mason jar. You can use any size you’d like, just fill it up!
•Orange Slices ( I used 3-4)
•Lemon Slices (I used about 3)
•Cranberries (fill to your hearts delight) I used about 1/2 cup.)
•Rosemary leaves (I used 3-4)
•Cinnamon Sticks (I used 3-4)
•Whole Cloves (I just sprinkled some in ( about 1 1/2 tsps.)
You really can’t go wrong with this!
Then fill the jar with water, just under the top. I cut out some wrapping paper and glued it to the lid to fancy it up.
You could also use some cute fabric. Tie it off with a bow and you’ve made the perfect gift that will make your friends homes smell lovely!
I love these because they’re fast, easy to make, so dang pretty and smell
so scrumptious! I’m not much of a label maker but if you are, you could add a cute label with the instructions to pour the jar into a pan on the stove and simmer. (If the water evaporates a bit, you can add a little extra to the pan. Enjoy!
You know those days when there are hardly any groceries in the house, but you really don't want to leave home to go get some? Yea we have those days a lot over here! This morning while I laid in bed, I used my Walmart+ membership to order all our groceries. They were delivered to my doorstep this afternoon! I love that with my membership I get to take advantage of free delivery from my store, and sometimes as soon as the same day! ($35 minimum order. Restrictions apply). My four year old and I decided we should make some cookies today! He is at the age where he feels very independent, and wants to do everything by himself. I organized all the ingredients for him, eggs and all! That part may have gotten a little messy, and we might have had a little extra crunch in this batch, but he sure was proud to do it all by himself!
We fished out as many of the egg shells we could find.
This recipe is a family favorite! It is so simple and always turns out so good, even if there area few bonus eggs shells sprinkled in by a 4 year old!
Chocolate Chip Cookies
Ingredients:
2/3 cup shortening
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/4 cup flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
Mix well and add 1 -2 cups of chocolate chips. We always add at least 2 cups because chocolate chips are the best part!
Bake at 350* for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown. Enjoy!
On another note, I added a few links to some really cute loungewear from Walmart. This past year, cozy clothes have been my favorite thing to wear! These would also make a great Valentine’s Day gift for a gal pal or your teen daughters!

This is the light before I painted it. I wanted to give it a more classic and modern look, so spray paint to the rescue!
Now check it out after a few coats of spray paint! I just LOVE spray paint!
And here's a pic of the light before I swapped it out if you're wondering why I'm referring to these lights as "boob lights". You see it too right?
Crazy what adding a new light fixture to a space can do right?!
